Time for Reflection and off to Pastures new!

Well it seems like an age since I last sat down and penned a piece for this blog, if truth be known it’s probably been near on 4 weeks, 3 of which the lakes had a lid on them several inches thick! I took this as an opportunity to catch up on some writing I was asked to do for http://www.fishable.co.uk/.
However this weekend has seen a dramatic shift in conditions and as I suspected most of the Carp Anglers in the land have been released from their prisons and descended upon on pits around the country taking full advantage of the early spring climate.

So why are you sat at home rambling on about nothing you ask?

Well, I decided to try and earn some brownie points ready for when I start my new campaign in a weeks’ time - after all the family aren’t going to see me for the rest of the year!
I also managed to find the time to roll some of my favourite Orange Northern Specials corkballs which are drying as I write this!

Some of my Orange Northern Special's
I’ve paid the deposit on the water and the rest is being paid Tuesday night, the rest of the week shall be spent prepping the gear, several times over knowing me and pacing up and down praying the newly acquired ticket lands on my door mat Saturday morning in which case I will be in the van and off down the Pit like a rat up a drain pipe!

The water in question is the same one I have spoken about on several occasions, I have only fished it as a guest until now with my old mate Pete but have enjoyed some success landing some stunning Mirrors up to 31 lb+ so I’m looking forward to being let loose on the place without being stuck to “guest” sessions and such like.

A 31 lb+ Mirror I had whilst on a guest session
There is an absolute stunning Mirror in there that touches 42 lb+ at the right time of the year which I have my eye on, Pete was fortunate enough to land it last autumn at 40 lb+ not to mention some cracking Commons that look like they have been handpicked from the great pond in the Sky.
Unfortunately I cannot name the water as it just wouldn’t be fair on the members that fish there, not to mention the no publicity ban but I’m sure I’ll  think of a suitable name to refer to it as whilst I’m sat behind the rods chasing the Big Mirror of my dreams.

Anyway that will do for now, I’ve got another Article to write for Fishable then I’m crashing on the sofa to watch the rugby!  Hopefully next time you shall hear from me I will have news of my first official session of my new campaign and hopefully it will make some entertaining and interesting reading.

Until then be lucky,

Smithy
